The Process

Remember to have the following with you as you prepare:
1. A Bible (duh!)
2. A pen to mark in your bible and journal as you read
3. A journal to take notes.
4. A scratch peice of paper to write down any distracting thoughts or to-do lists that may prevent you from hearing God. Write anything down on this paper, so you can leave it for later and know that you won't forget it.

The Process
Step 1: Pray (15-20 minutes)
If you have problems focusing (like me) then write out your prayers. Just talk to God and invite him to speak to you. Pray for others. Begin a list. Do whatever you need to do to begin a conversation with God.
Step 2: Read (about 20-25 minutes)
Read the selected scriptures and jot down any notes or thoughts as you go.
Step 3: Journal (10-15 minutes)
Select a portion that speaks to you and write two things:
1. What it the passage saying.
2. How can I apply it to my life.
Step 4: Prayer (5 minutes)
Ask for God's strength to live out what you have learned.
